V. N. Karazin KNU National Museum of Nature
Whale is the largest modern animal on the planet. The complete skeleton of a marine mammal, with the length of 20 meters, is presented in the exposition of the Kharkiv Museum of Nature. The exhibit had to be brought through the windows, with the help of special equipment.
The collection of the museum includes over 250 thousand exhibits, some of which are located in 23 halls. They represent the entire history of our planet. The skeletons of the extinct steller's sea cow and almost 4-meter plesiosaur are the most impressing among the zoological, geological, and paleontological exhibits. There is a 100-pound crystal of rock crystal and a collection of meteorites. Everything began in 1807, when in Europe two collections of subjects were acquired for the training of Kharkiv University students.
