Border crossing
You must pass passport and customs control when entering and leaving the country. Foreign citizens must fill in a registration card that is required to be kept for the entire duration of their stay in Ukraine
Official language
The official language is Ukrainian, but the majority of Kharkiv residents use Ukrainian and Russian in their everyday life and it happened so on the historical basis.
Climate
In Kharkiv, climate is temperate and continental, the coldest months are January and February (average temperature is -7 °С), the warmest months are July and August (average temperature is +25 °С).
Electrical energy
The electrical tension in the electrical network of Ukraine is 220 V. In Kharkiv, power outages are extremely rare, but it will be better to turn on valuable equipment using a safety fuse because of the voltage spikes.

You can exchange currency at any bank or in special exchange offices.
Working hours
Most Kharkiv enterprises and institutions work from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a break for lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m (or from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.). Cafes and restaurants work mainly from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m..

To call to Kharkiv from abroad you need to dial +38 057 ХХХ-ХХ-ХХ (38 - Ukraine code, 057 - Kharkiv code, ХХХ-ХХ-ХХ - subscriber's number). In Kharkiv, there are six-digit and seven-digit phone numbers, if the number is six-digit - it is necessary to add numeral 2 before it.
Weekend
Establishments, offices, enterprises, banks, most shops do not work on: January 1 - New Year, January 7 - Christmas, March 8 - International Women's Day, May 1 - Day of International Solidarity of Workers, May 9 - Victory Day over Nazism in the Second World War, June 28 - Constitution Day of Ukraine, August 24 - Independence Day of Ukraine.
Tip
Like the rest of the world, if you are satisfied with the service of a restaurant, hotel or other institution, it is accepted to add about 10% of the account amount. Anyway, it is up to you to decide.
