BALLET “THE NUTCRACKER”

On Sunday, December 26, 2021, at 18.30, on the Grand Stage of the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.V. Lysenko see the ballet “THE NUTCRACKER”.

The ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The story of this ballet takes place on Christmas Eve. At this time all people wish each other wellness and prosperity to the world. At this time the whole world dances together with the ballet characters. However, in a child’s soul everything is more simple and ... more complex. Toys under the New Year tree, disappointment because of a broken doll – all this forms the world of child feelings reflected in the fantastic music by Tchaikovsky.

«The Nutcracker» by P.I. Tchaikovsky is one of the most popular ballets in the world, in many countries it has become an integral part of the New Year and Christmas holidays. At the same time, the story of a wooden toy, which turned out to be an enchanted prince, who managed to defeat the evil Mouse King with the help of the kind and selfless girl Masha, is not only an attractive fairy tale. “The Nutcracker” is a perfect artistic phenomenon – a symphony of childhood. Or rather, about the breaking moment of childhood, with new hopes of the yet unknown youth. When dreams draw mind and feelings ahead, into the unknown new life, which is only anticipated” – wrote the Academician Boris Asafiev. 
 
Like in his two previous ballets, P.Tchaikovsky addressed to the theme of overcoming of evil curse by the power of love, enriching his music with bright and expressive techniques, which became the source of inspiration for the first stage director of the ballet Lev Ivanov and the followers of the genre of symphonic ballet.
