“STRAUSS CHRISTMAS CONCERT”. Grand Holiday concert
On Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 18.30, on the Grand Stage of the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M.V. Lysenko the “STRAUSS CHRISTMAS CONCERT” will be held.
“Strauss Concert” is a bright holiday concert, which will surely touch the audience’s feelings. Most of the compositions included in the concert belong to the “King of waltzes” Johann Strauss, the Son. His waltzes and galops, marches and polkas from operettas are small masterpieces, and lined up in a concert program they resemble a precious necklace, in which each pearl has its own mystery and interesting history.
Thus, for instance, the waltz “An der schönen blauen Donau”, which is opening our Christmas concert, is called the unofficial anthem of Austria due to its incredible popularity and is always performed during the traditional Christmas concert in Vienna. The only composition of Johann Strauss, the Father, in our concert will be his famous “Radetzky-Marsch”. It is also called the unofficial anthem of Austria, but it is more often used during football championships. It features a great deal of music humor, like many other compositions of the Strauss family. The composition “Morgen” of Richard Strauss, which will also be performed during the New Year and Christmas promenade, is so tender and full of faith in a miracle that it is often performed in the Christmas Eve.
You will be able to enjoy all these music wonders if you visit our concert this evening!
